John Berger was an art critic, novelist, author and painter, most widely known for is book and subsequent TV series 'Ways of Seeing'. He described himself as a storyteller, believing that storytelling begins with listening.
John Berger died 2nd January 2017, in Paris. The photo that became the source for this portrait was of a younger John. He once said, 'I live enormously through my eyes. The visible is simply a very important part of my experience of being in this world'. In his honour this portrait is now titled 'Ways of Seeing John'.
